Who We Are
A Community. Not a Clinic.
A clubhouse is a community-based space where adults living with mental health conditions come together as members, not patients, to build confidence, develop skills, and support one another. Based on the internationally recognized Clubhouse Model of psychosocial rehabilitation, each day is structured around purposeful work, shared meals, and contribution. Membership is voluntary, free, and never expires.
The model began in 1948 with Fountain House in New York City and has since grown to more than 370 clubhouses in 32 countries. It is supported and accredited by Clubhouse International, which sets the standards that guide every clubhouse community worldwide.
Novus operates two clubhouses in Massachusetts:
A Model that Works
42% Employment Rate
Accredited clubhouses achieve a 42% employment rate annually, double the average for people in the public mental health system.
Fewer Hospitalizations
Clubhouse membership leads to a significant decrease in psychiatric hospitalizations.
Investing in the Model
Clubhouse International was awarded a grant from the Stephen Colbert Americone Dream Fund. Novus Clubhouses (Compass and Lotus) will directly benefit from the gift.
